Tavern 23

Tavern 23 is one of my favorite hole in the wall spots in Poughkeepsie. I’ve been coming here for years now and it’s always great for a lowkey hang. The servers are always attentive and the atmosphere is lively. The menu is ever changing while offering something for everyone. The Beech Brie was the perfect appetizer & I had the Ahi Cobb wrap with their red cabbage slaw and it was delicious! I love ordering food that’s unique but also comforting. Can’t wait to make more memories here!

Very challenging to find this place. Our GPS told us where it was, and we drove right past it twice. In fairness to us, it was getting dark and it was raining at the time, so our ability to see wasn't the best. Also, we think that both times we passed by, there was a car exiting the driveway and the driveway is really only wide enough for one car at a time, so our view of the patio area of this restaurant was blocked. On our third time around, now determined to find this place, we located it. We made it in the door just before another cloud burst. It was much louder than we figured it would be... But that's on us, because the word "tavern" is in the name. The food was excellent. I ordered tater tots. They may have been the hottest tater tots I've ever been served. Both of us ordered a salad. I had salmon on top of mine. I think he had shrimp on top of his. You can see both salads in the photos. Both salads were very good. I would recommend this restaurant unless you want to have a quiet conversation-- that is probably not going to be possible. There is limited seating indoors, but we opted for indoors given how wet it was outdoors., but I'm not sure how long they lasted after the next round of rain arrived. The parking lot has a huge puddle in the middle of it on rainy days. Our waitress did a great job.

Great atmosphere, very cozy and family friendly. Upon arrival I was greeted by Jess and the girls they made me feel so welcomed, I felt that fit right in. Nice and clean, staff were very professional and helpful. Thank you Jess for making me feel comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place for a quick bite and a drink. Plenty of parking and outdoor dining. I recommend the Lobster roll and the Paloma cocktail.

Great place for some good drinks , great tap, great food. Plenty of outdoor space if you wanna venture outside and also free parking. There’s fish behind the bar you can stare at and overall it’s always been a good time.

My Aunt, cousin, & I went to Tavern 23 otherwise known as T23 & we had a wonderful time. It was Friday night around 5:40 pm and we were offered our choice of inside or outdoor seating. We chose outside up on the deck and it was beautiful. I wish I had taken a video. The bistro lights and overall ambiance were magical. This place is a hidden gem in Poughkeepsie. Our waitress was fun & spunky. The owner now produces her own canned hard ice t and other flavor beverages. My Aunt had one and loved it. The food was all delicious. The nachos were huge - a full sheet pan heaping. Would highly recommend these to share or if you want leftovers to take home for yourself. I would try the tuna protein option over the Thai noodles in place of the steak next time. Perfect portion. We did not have dessert. Couldn’t fit it. We were too full in a good way.
